Guillermo del Toro talks The Hobbit Sequel

posted on: Apr, 27 2008

The Silmarillion

Guillermo del Toro spoke publicly to TheOneRing.net about the planned continuation of The Hobbit 2.

Here’s the quote:

“You know, I traveled to New Zealand just a little while ago, and one of the main reasons for going was to sit down and talk about the second film. ‘The Hobbit’, the book, is really one self-contained film, so for the second movie we sat down and worked it out. When we did this we got really excited because this second film is not a ‘tag on’, it’s not ‘filler’, it’s an integral part of telling the story of those 50 years of history lost in the narrative. There will be certain things that we will see from the first movie but from a different point of view, but it will feel like a volume, in the 5 volumes of the entire story. It will not feel like a bridge, I’ve been hearing it called ‘a bridge film’, it’s not, it’s an integral chapter of the story, and I think we’re all on the same page.”

New Quantum of Solace Photos

posted on: Apr, 07 2008

Columbia Pictures has released 21 new photos from the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. Looks like they’re going back to some of the glamour from the 60’s and 70’s Bond films. I like that very much. Btw. Some people don’t like this “Quantum of Solace” title but I think is pretty much unique and going smooth with a new Bond movie.

Pixar/Disney teams with Warner Bros for Brad Bird’s 1906

posted on: Mar, 13 2008

Brad Bird

Brad Bird has officially signed on to make his live-action feature directorial debut 1906 in a co-production between Warner Bros and Disney/Pixar.

Here is the official plot description from the book’s cover:

Set during the great San Francisco earthquake and fire, this page-turning historical novel reveals recently uncovered facts that forever change our understanding of what really happened. Narrated by a feisty young reporter, Annalisa Passarelli, the novel paints a vivid picture of the Post-Victorian city, from the mansions of Nob Hill to the underbelly of the Barbary Coast to the arrival of tenor Enrico Caruso and the Metropolitan Opera. Central to the story is the ongoing battle fought even as the city burns that pits incompetent and unscrupulous politicians against a coalition of honest police officers, newspaper editors, citizens, and a lone federal prosecutor. James Dalessandro weaves unforgettable characters and actual events into a compelling epic.
