George Lucas And The Challenge Of INDY 5!!

posted on: Jul, 29 2008

Times Online have a little long interview with George Lucas, where they discuss about INDY 5 project and some other things. Here’s few interesting quotes.

“If I can come up with another idea that they like, we’ll do another. Really, with the last one, Steven wasn’t that enthusiastic. I was trying to persuade him. But now Steve is more amenable to doing another one. Yet we still have the issues about the direction we’d like to take. I’m in the future; Steven’s in the past. He’s trying to drag it back to the way they were, I’m trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It’s kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas, so we’ll see where we are able to take the next one.”

Here’s more.

“Indiana Jones only becomes complicated when you have another two people saying ‘I want it this way’ and ‘I want it that way’, whereas, when I first did Jones, I just said, ‘We’ll do it this way’ — and that was much easier. But now I have to accommodate everybody, because they are all big, successful guys, too, so it’s a little hard on a practical level.”

And here’s the little quote from Lucas, of course, when he talks about his personal films. Yeah, right.

“I can’t say yet, but [my next films will] be personal. In fact, I’d sooner just make them and not even release them, just put them on the shelf, like ships in a bottle — ‘Oh, look, let me show you my collection.’ Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. Films are a very expensive hobby. And you have to get people to want to go and see them.”

Harrison Ford Implies that George Lucas’ Wacky Ideas are Stupid

posted on: May, 05 2008

Indy 4 Steven Spielberg Harrison Ford

The Playlist noticed a very telling slip-up in a recent Harrison Ford interview, it’s pretty interesting reading.

“It was the three of us, Steven, George and I, coming to agreement on the central notion of it all,” Ford said. “I think the original idea is still a large piece of it in the movie, but it’s been developed and worked on in ways that made it a lot more palatable to Steven and I.”

Then Lucas explains to the AP:

“They wanted to go off on some other tangent. I said, ‘I’m not going to do that. I’m going to stick with this no matter what, so we either do this or we don’t. That’s it.’ Finally, we got something that we could all compromise on and all be happy with. It wasn’t quite as wacky as I wanted it to be, but it still is subtle and nice and works really well and has the same idea behind it.”

Good guys from The Playlist done some translation:

“Lucas is a stubborn f**k and insisted that there be some Roswell-like aliens from outer space central theme in ‘Indy 4′ and we finally relented, but it’s done in a tasteful way that hopefully shouldn’t turn off everyone who’s childhood’s were ruined by the shitty ‘Star Wars’ prequels.”

Indiana Jones 4: First Review and Some New Photos

posted on: Apr, 21 2008

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I really don’t know how much we can trust this source, but it seems someone has seen has seen Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Reaction about movie goes something like this:

  • “The best of the Indy sequels.”
  • “The film has the strongest supporting cast of the sequels.”
  • “There are many breakneck set pieces, with a protracted jungle chase being particularly memorable. As well as being evocative of the truck chase from the first movie.”
  • “…an ending that any longtime diehard fan of the films could only dream about. Expect a particularly resounding reaction in the theater.”

Anyway, that’s not all. We have new production photos and that’s not all.

New Indiana Jones 4 Trailer Coming Out This Week

posted on: Mar, 20 2008

Indy 4

Indy fans, no more waiting to see new trailer for upcoming Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It seems that new trailer will hit the web this week.

Here’s the quote:

When a second trailer for “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” premieres online, it should spread as fast as the first, thanks to a widget. Paramount plans to launch the widget this week, but the studio declined to state when the new trailer will debut.

Paramount is counting on the small, portable applications that can be posted on blogs and social networks to maximize the exposure for its trailers. The first “Skull” trailer, released in February, has racked up millions of views. Every week Paramount will add a new viral video to the widget, for a total of eight to 10 videos. The widgets will include other exclusive content, including a “Love Guru” trailer, clips and behind-the-scenes footage.
