Release Date Change: Hancock on July 1st

Hancock will be hitting select theaters one night earlier than expected. Columbia Pictures has decided to hold nationwide screenings of the Will Smith drunken superhero action comedy on Tuesday July 1st, a day before the film’s announced release. Screenings will begin as early as 7:00pm on the first.

Jon Favreau Thinks Iron Man 2 Release Date Unrealistic

On his official myspace page, Jon Favreau had some little talk with friends, answering some questions and one of them is about Iron Man 2 release date.

Here’s the official quote from Favreau:

It’s been five weeks since the one and only phone call my reps have gotten from Marvel. I know their hands are full with the Hulk and I’m sure they will get into it shortly, as they tell me they intend to. I ran into the Marvel guys at the Hulk premiere and everyone sounded eager to get to work on IM2.

I am concerned, however, about the announced release date of April 2010. Neither Robert nor I were consulted about this and we are both concerned about how realistic the date is in light of the fact that we have no script, story or even writers hired yet. This genre of movie is best when it is done thoughtfully and with plenty of preparation. It might be better to follow the BB/DK, X/X2 three year release pattern than to scramble for a date. It is difficult because there are no Marvel 09 releases and they need product, but I also think we owe it to the fans to have a great version of IM2 and, at this point, we would have less time to make it than the first one.

Inglorious Bastards… coming to Cannes in 2009?!?

French interviewers really know how to make an good interview. Just ask the right question. This time, on other side was Quentin Tarantino. You know him, from such a movies like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and many more. Anyway, everybody’s waiting his new film project and here’s some exciting quote from QT, while he was answering tons of questions for french guys.

“Oh, yeah, no. The next movie I’m doing is my WWII movie Inglorious Bastards. I actually just finished the first draft of the script and when I go home I’ll be finishing it up…and if all goes well [pregnant pause] I will be here 2009 at Cannes with my war film INGLORIOUS BASTARDS!!! [applause].”

Believe it or not, this is OFFICIAL announcement from QT. Which means, year from now we’re gonna watch some bloody R-Rated QT War flick. I’m all for it.

Paramount/Dreamworks 2008/2009 Reshuffled Schedule

• Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio will now hit theaters on October 2nd 2008. No release date had previously been announced
• David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt will move from November 26th to December 19th 2008.
• The Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder has been moved from July 11th to August 15th
• Sam Mendes’ Revolutionary Road starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, will now be distributed by Paramount Vantage.
• A new yet-to-be-titled Wayne Bros comedy has been given a February 6th 2009 release date. The movie follows a rich, white girl from the suburbs who finds herself on a series of misadventures when she moves to the mean streets of the inner-city. Sounds hilarious! </sarcasm>
• The Renée Zellweger horror/thriller Case 39 originally scheduled for release on August 22nd 2008 will now be released on April 10th 2009. The film centers on an idealistic social worker who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents only to discover that the girl is not as innocent as she thinks.
• Eddie Murphy’s Nowhereland, which was originally set to hit theaters on September 26th 2008 will now be released on June 12th 2009. Murphy plays a financial executive who can’t stop his career downspiral is invited into his daughter’s imaginary world, where solutions to his problems await.
